PTI chief, Imran Khan is reported to be under a risk of having permanent vision loss because of Central Retinal Vein Occlusion (CRVO). Whereas Shaukat Khanum Hospital needs emergency medical care, the leaders of PTI want him to be transferred out of Adiala Jail without any delay.

What Is the Latest Update on Imran Khan Eye Condition?

Health issues of Imran Khan were raised after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) released a statement on January 27, 2026. The party alleged that the former prime minister has CRVO in the right eye.

PTI warned that delayed treatment could lead to permanent vision loss. The party demanded immediate transfer to a specialized hospital.

What Is CRVO?

According to PTI, CRVO involves a blockage of the main vein that drains blood from the retina. Medical experts cited by the party said the condition requires urgent intervention in a fully equipped operation theater.

PTI alleged that prison authorities at Adiala Jail want treatment conducted inside the jail facility. The party said the prison lacks required medical infrastructure for such an eye condition.

Shaukat Khanum Hospital Responds to Imran Khan Eye Reports

Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital released an official statement on January 27, 2026. The hospital said it could not independently verify the CRVO diagnosis.

Despite this, the hospital expressed serious concern over Imran Khan eye health. It formally requested immediate access for its medical team to examine him. The hospital acknowledged the professionalism of government doctors but said its involvement would reassure the public.

Imran Khan’s sisters — Aleema, Noreen, and Uzma Khanum — raised doubts about the reports. They said he never mentioned a serious eye condition during recent meetings.

Uzma Khanum recalled him mentioning a minor eye infection two months earlier. The sisters questioned how medical details reached the media when even family members and lawyers were not informed.

Some reports claimed that Imran Khan was taken to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) late on January 24 under heavy security. These reports suggested a possible medical procedure.

Jail authorities have not confirmed the visit. Officials have not issued any clarification so far.
