Radio Pakistan’s legendary broadcaster, Ishrat Fatima, has officially ended her 45-year glittering career. On January 13, 2026, the icon of the Khabarnama shared a video message announcing her farewell while broadcasting her last bulletin on Radio Pakistan.

The long-time news anchor declared in an emotional video on her social media accounts that she was leaving. She also told her audience the decades of support they had given her, and she asked them to come with her on her future adventures on YouTube and Instagram.

Ishrat Fatima started her career as a student in shows such as Khel aur Khiladi. She later on became the star of PTVs Khabarnama in 1980s. The audience recalls her perfect Urdu pronunciation and her trademark style. She spent her talents at Radio Pakistan and voice of America after she left PTV in 2007.

On her last day, Ishrat Fatima made it clear that she was always honest and professional. Although there are reports in social media that point to internal institutional problems, her departure is a graceful retirement. Instead, she is abandoning a glorious career with Pride of Performance and Tamgha-e-Imtiaz awards.

Even after quitting the newsroom, Ishrat Fatima still intends to be active online. She urged the fans to be in touch with her via her social media to be informed about new projects.
